Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against South Dakota State Tuesday afternoon at the EC Moore Complex.

Alissa Karjel broke out with her first multi-hit performance of the season in game one as she went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Desiree Gonzalez put together a solid day at the plate as she delivered an RBI single in game one and grabbed the lone Bona hit in game two.

Kelly Farrell also grabbed a pair of hits in game one.

Game One: South Dakota State 8, St. Bonaventure 2 |

South Dakota State put together steady offensive production with a run in each of the first two innings.

The Bonnies brought the score to 2-1 in the top of the third as Kelly Farrell scored Haley Majot with a double to left field.

The Jackrabbits got the run back in the bottom half of the inning, and later increased the deficit with three more runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead.

St. Bonaventure cut into the South Dakota State lead in the top of the fifth as Gonzalez drove home Karjel with a single to left center.

Two more SDSU runs in the bottom of the sixth brought the score to the eventual 8-2 final.

Josie Borysevicz started in the circle for the Bonnies and tossed the first 3.2 innings of the game before being relieved by Kristen Hickling, who got the final out of the fourth. Jasmine Petrishin came on to make her first appearance of the season as she pitched the final two innings.

Game Two: South Dakota State 10, St. Bonaventure  (6 Innings) |

Already down 2-0, Gonzalez singled to center to lead it off for the Bonnies in the bottom of the first for the lone Bona hit of the game.

Gonzalez then stole second, but the Bonnies were unable to bring her across to cut the South Dakota State lead in half.

The Jackrabbits added three more runs in the second, then one apiece in the third and fourth before going up 10-0 in the sixth inning.

Rylee Hehir started in the circle and tossed the first three innings before being relieved by Hickling, who struck out three in the final three innings of the game.

The Bonnies will be in action next as they travel to Daytona Beach for a doubleheader against Niagara at Daytona State Community College on Thursday. The matchups are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
