Billikens Ride Strong Start To Victory in Atlantic 10 Opener

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Host Saint Louis started fast and never looked back en route to a 5-0 victory Thursday night over the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team in the first game of Atlantic 10 action.

The Billikens (9-0-1, 1-0 Atlantic 10), who are ranked No. 24 in the latest NCAA Division I RPI rankings and receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, struck for three goals in the opening 20 minutes to seize control of the game. Emma Farley scored the game's first goal at the 7:28 mark, then a corner kick set up a score by Maddie Pokorny four minutes later. The opening rush concluded with another corner kick set piece resulting in a goal by Evie Lavelle.

St. Bonaventure had seven shots, led by Sabrina Sousa-Sampson's two. Freshman Serafina Maerten saw her most extensive action in net, making a save and did not allow a goal in 17:30 of game time.

The Bonnies return home to host Richmond on Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
