Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BALTIMORE – St. Bonaventure softball roared to a 17-1 victory in the opening game Saturday, highlighting a doubleheader at Coppin State. The Eagles rebounded in the late game for a 9-0 victory.

GAME ONE – St. Bonaventure 17, Coppin State 1 (5 innings)

A nine-run fourth inning came as part of an offensive explosion for the Bonnies in a convincing early afternoon win.

Alexandra Deal, Brooke Kane-Walker and Olivia Golay all had three hits apiece with Golay driving home five runs with her bat while Deal and Kane-Walker each plated three.

In all, the Bonnies pounded out 15 hits in their best offensive output of the young season.

Coppin State led early after pushing across a run in the first, but the Bonnies soon answered.

A double off the bat of Kane-Walker scored Grace Perechinsky for the tie before Golay put the Bonnies ahead with a double down the left field line to score Kane-Walker. The three-run uprising concluded when Golay scored following an error by the Eagles.

Hailey Blencowe cracked a homer to center field in the third before Kane-Walker came through again with an RBI double to center. Golay then blasted the second home run of the inning with a shot to left center for a 7-1 advantage.

In the impressive fourth, Alexandra Piergustavo started the run with an RBI single that opened the flood gates. Blencowe, Golay and Emma Borysevicz all had run scoring singles. Mckenna Holtz worked a run-scoring walk and Deal slapped a bases clearing triple as the Bonnies were clicking on all cylinders.

All of the offense was more than enough for Rylee Hehir who was rolling in the circle. Hehir earned the victory with a complete game effort, scattering four hits and walking one while striking out seven.

Kane-Walker scored four times while Golay crossed the plate three times.

GAME TWO – Coppin State 9, St. Bonaventure 0 (5 innings)

Coppin State set the tone with a nine-run first inning in the late game.

From there, the Eagles cruised for the rest of the way.

Bona was limited to just three hits in the second contest as the two teams switched dominating roles. Deal, Golay and Enovich each had a hit apiece with Deal and Golay each recording a double.

Makayla Brzezinski started and was charged with the loss. Grace Van Horn worked 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three and surrendering just one hit.

The Bonnies close out their stay in Baltimore with a single game at Morgan State on Sunday afternoon.
