STORYLINE
The St. Bonaventure University softball team travels to Nashville for the Tennessee State/Belmont Invitational March 16-18. This will be the Bonnies' last tournament before beginning Atlantic 10 play next weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies competed in Baltimore last weekend, going 1-2. The Brown and White defeated Coppin State 17-1 on Saturday, March 10. Brooke Kane-Walker went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Olivia Golay was 3-for-3 and knocked in five runs. Rylee Hehir earned her second win of the season in the circle, striking out seven in four innings of work.
GOLAY AND ENOVITCH PRODUCING
Early in the 2018 season, Olivia Golay and Elizabeth Enovitch have had red-hot bats leading the way for the Bonnies. In seven games, Golay is batting .533 and is tied for the team lead with seven RBIs. Enovitch is hitting .345 which is second on the team and has started in all 12 games for the Bonnies.
ABOUT TENNESSEE STATE
Tennessee State is currently 3-19 on the season. The Tigers have wins over Bowling Green, Cornell and Drexel. Katie Schneider leads the Tigers with a .311 batting average and leads the team with seven RBIs. Lauren Powell has started 11 games in the circle for Tennessee State. Powell has posted an ERA of 5.08 so far this season.
ABOUT BELMONT
Belmont enters this tournament with a record of 14-4 and have seven of its last eight games. Lexi Rouse is hitting .365 with seven home runs and 16 RBIs, all team highs. Brooklin Lee is 8-1 in the circle with an ERA of 1.08. Lee has 86 strikeouts this season and ranked 43rd in the NCAA with 8.9 strikeouts per seven innings.
ABOUT BALL STATE
Ball State is 15-8 in the 2018 season. The Cardinals are winners of three out of five and most recently fell to No. 21/22 Michigan, 3-2. Haley Dominique leads the team, hitting .387 and 29 hits. Janae Hogg has eight home runs and 22 RBIs to lead the Cardinals. Aeshia Miles is 8-4, posting a 1.85 ERA and 68 strikeouts.
ABOUT SAMFORD
Samford currently has a record of 5-21 and have lost six in a row. The Bulldogs have played five games against NCAA top-25 teams this season. Shelby Maze leads Samford in batting average (.299) and hits (23).
UP NEXT
The Bonnies begin Atlantic 10 Conference play March 24 at George Washington. The Saturday doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday's contest will also start at 1:00 p.m.
