George Mason Takes Two From Bonnies Saturday Afternoon

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Alexandra Deal had three hits in game one and Grace Perechinsky added three in game two but the St. Bonaventure University softball team was swept by the George Mason Patriots Saturday afternoon at Joyce Field.

The Patriots took game one 5-2 and scored four runs in the seventh inning of game two to win, 5-2.

The Bonnies fall to 8-23 overall and 1-9 in Atlantic 10 play. George Mason improves to 14-23 and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10.

Game 1 – George Mason 5, St. Bonaventure 2 |

Liz Seymour got the scoring started with an RBI double in the top of the first inning and Brooke Sullivan added an RBI single, making the lead 2-0.

An RBI double off the bat of Hailey Blencowe in the bottom half of the first cut the deficit in half, 2-1.

A triple and a sacrifice fly added two more Patriot runs, extending their lead to 4-1. George Mason added another insurance run in the fifth on a Jess Middleton home run.

The Bonnies scored one in the bottom of the seventh when Mckenna Holtz tripled to right-center field, allowing Elizabeth Enovitch to cross the plate.

Rylee Hehir suffered the loss in the circle working six innings (7 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K). Freshman Grace Van Horn worked the final inning in relief, allowing no hits while walking two.

Game 2 – George Mason 5, St. Bonaventure 2 | 

Perechinsky's RBI single up the middle in the top of the first gave the Bonnies an early 1-0 lead.

The score would remain the same until the top of the fourth when George Mason's Miah Wilson singled through the left side on the infield, tying the game 1-1.

Bona answered and took the lead right back, however.

Deal put the Bonnies back on top with an infield single that brought home Emma Borysevicz for a 3-2 edge

The Brown and White held the lead until the top of the seventh, when George Mason picked up four runs on three hits that allowed the Patriots to regain the lead.

The Bonnies put runners on first and second, but the Patriots were able to get out of the inning and get the win.

Josie Borysevicz took the loss in the circle tossing a complete game (8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K).

St. Bonaventure is back in action Sunday afternoon in the third and final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
