STORYLINE
The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team enters the second weekend of Atlantic 10 Conference play still seeking its first win of the season. First up is a trip to Amherst Mass to face perennial A-10 Power UMass on Friday. On Sunday, the team will return home to campus to face off against VCU.
LAST TIME OUT – UMASS
UMass jumped out to a commanding 12-1 lead after the first half and cruised to an easy 19-5 win over the Bonnies. UMass would go onto to win the Atlantic 10 Championship and qualify for the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
ABOUT UMASS
The Minutewomen enter Friday's contest sporting a 7-3 record including a perfect 2-0 mark in conference play. Of the three losses Umass has suffered, two of them have been against nationally ranked opponents (No. 5 Boston College, No. 23 Cornell).Minutewomen are led by Redshirt Senior Hannah Burnett. The Huntington, N.Y. native has scored a team high 32 goals and added eight assists. Classmate Holly Turner leads the team with 46 points coming from 26 goals and 20 assists. In goal, Lauren Hiller anchors the defense. The sophomore has started all 10 games posting a .418 save percentage.
LAST TIME OUT – VCU
St. Bonaventure surrendered a season high in goals in last season's 24-15 loss at VCU. The Bonnies rallied for 10 goals in the second half but could not overcome the lead built by VCU. The Rams jumped out to a 12-5 lead at the half and scored another 12 goals in the second half.
ABOUT VCU
The Rams come into Sunday's game compiling a 2-8 overall record and a 0-2 mark in conference play. The Rams are led by Sky Hyatt who has compiled 26 goals and four assists. Molly Barcikowski has recorded 16 goals and 16 assists for a team high 32 points. In net, Ria Peralta has started all 10 games for VCU compiling a 2-8 record, posting a .414 save percentage.
For The First Time
St. Bonaventure comes into this weekend's games with a 0-10 record still searching for that first win of the season. The Bonnies have been improving, nearly breaking that streak on numerous occasions. St. Bonaventure is led by Rylee Arnold. The junior has scored a team high 19 goals and added five assists. Newcomer Ashley Easterday has continued her impressive freshman season, scoring 13 goals and adding seven assists. All three goalies have seen time in net as Morgan Conroy has started seven games, Kerrigan Cummins has started two and freshman Savannah Clark has started one game.
