Bonnies Travel To Sunny Hawaii For Six-Game Road Trip

STORYLINE
The St. Bonaventure University softball team will travel to Honolulu for six games against California, Hawaii, Niagara and Utah in the Spring Fling Tournament from March 6-9.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies suffered a close loss to Hampton on Feb. 25 after a strong start. The Bonnies led after five innings until the Pirates stormed back to win the game 8-7 in the final inning. Bona also dropped a close game to Mount St. Mary's to start off the weekend, losing to the Mount 6-4.

HOLTZ PRODUCING
Junior McKenna Holtz went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, including a double in the top of the fifth against Norfolk to put the Bonnies up 7-1. Additionally, Holtz has gone 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA
California is currently 9-7 on the 2019 season and went 3-2 in their most previous tournament, falling to Kentucky (5-0) and New Mexico State (6-5).  Lindsay Rood is hitting .439 with 25 hits. Mikayla Coelho has two home runs and 13 RBIs on the season. The Golden Bears top pitcher, Kamalani Dung, is 5-3 with a 2.45 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 48.2 innings of work.

ABOUT HAWAII
Hawaii enters the tournament with a 12-4 record, with losses against UCLA, Seattle, DePaul and New Mexico. Callee Heen leads the Rainbow Warriors offensively with six home runs and 15 RBIs on the year. In the circle, Izzy Dino is 4-1 with an ERA of 2.31.

ABOUT NIAGARA
Niagara went 16-33 in the 2018 season and will play their first game of the 2019 season against the Bonnies in Hawaii. Senior Jerri Ann Orfano lead the team in RBIs with 29 and 41 hits in 2018. Sierra Bertrand was the top pitcher for the Purple Eagles last season with a record of 7-14 and an ERA of 3.72.

ABOUT UTAH
Utah begins the season 5-10 and have lost five in a row. The Utes are led this season by Julia Noskin, who is hitting a .396 with 19 hits on the season and three RBIs. Sydney Sandez has a pitching record of 2-3 with an ERA of 3.22 over 45.2 innings of work.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies will travel to Morehead State for three games against Bowling Green and Morehead State. They will open up the trip against Bowling Green on Saturday March 16 at 11:00 a.m.
