Peets Scores Another Record; Bonnies Post Three Top-10 All-Time Marks

GENESEO, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure sophomore Clay Peets continued his domination of the Bonnies all-time record books by breaking his own school record and again leading the Brown and White on a perfect fall Saturday afternoon at the Mike Woods Invitational.

For the third straight event, Peets finished by writing his name atop the Bonnies record books.

This time, the reigning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week broke his own 8K record which stood for only seven days. He crossed the finish line with a mark of 25:23.0, just over three seconds better than the effort he posted in Rochester last weekend.

He finished 13th overall out of 370 competitors racing.

Peets started the season by setting the Bonnies 5K record in the Little Three Championship on the team's home course (15:16.3) on Sept. 3 and followed that up with his first 8K record time at the Roberts Wesleyan course last Saturday (25:26.2).

Two more individual Bonnies top-10 marks came during the race as well.

Junior Zane Courtwright delivered his personal best time and best effort of the year as he finished second on the team with a run of 26:08. That run easily eclipsed his previous PR of 26:53.5 set last season in Louisville.

Courtwright's run launched him from 17th into a tie for fourth all-time in the Bona's record book.

Senior Darion Gregory also PR'ed, finishing his race in 26:31.3. Gregory will stand ninth on the Bonnies individual leaderboard, and he bested his previous personal standard set in last week's race by nearly four seconds.

Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Aiden Scattergood again was in the team scoring with his time of 26:46.

Sophomore Thomas Dachik finished fifth for the team by clocking in at 27:32.

Freshman Ethan Luce (27:34.3) and sophomore Colin McCarthy (27:38.0) completed the team's top seven.

The Bona men will be back in competition Oct. 14 at the JennaStrong Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.
