MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Sophomore Clay Peets showed the way for the St. Bonaventure men's cross country team Saturday morning in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship held at Pole Green Park outside Richmond.

Peets ran the 8K course in a time of 25:49.6 to finish a stellar fall spring that saw him set, and break multiple times, the school records for the 5K and 8K. At Saturday's race, he bettered his 2021 A-10 Championship finish by 19 spots, taking 71^st in the field of 138 runners. He also bested his freshman A-10 Championship time from a year a go by nearly a full minute.

Senior Darion Gregory placed second on the team as the Bonnies had the same 1-2 on the squad as in last year's conference meet. This year, Gregory crossed the finish line in 26:13.6.

Junior Zane Courtwright captured his best team finish in an A-10 Championship, taking third on the squad with his effort of 26:49.6.

Freshmen Aiden Scattergood, earlier an A-10 Rookie of the Week last month, and Ethan Luce made their conference championship debuts by finishing in the team scoring with times of 27:07.7 and 27:28.9 respectively.

Bona's top seven was completed by a third freshman, Alex Ryan (27:59.6) and sophomore Conor Quinn (28:00.1) who took his first career top-seven finish for the Bonnies.
