MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Freshmen Claire Cuneo and Jenna Gregory led the St. Bonaventure women's cross country team in their Atlantic 10 Championship debuts Saturday morning at Pole Green Park outside Richmond.
Cuneo was the top-finishing Bonnies runner, completing the 5K layout in 18:59.9. Her run marks the first time a Bonnies competitor has broken the 19-minute mark in the conference championship meet since Kerry Caher did so in 2014.
She finished 76th overall in a field of 136 runners. Cuneo's effort was just off her PR of 18:55 set two weeks ago in Buffalo and she paced the team for the first time this fall.
Gregory was next on the team, finishing the race in 19:16.5. The two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week finished first or second on the team in every meet during the season.
Senior Lindsey Clawson had her best A-10 Championship showing, crossing the stripe in 19:27.6.
Freshman Mia Winters (19:46.0) and junior Emily Peterson (20:12.0) completed the team's top five.
As a team, the Bonnies finished 14th overall with 440 team points, edging VCU's 451.
