Bonnies Women's Lacrosse Set To Begin 2022 Season

St. Bonaventure at Akron
Sunday, Feb. 13 – 12:00 p.m.

The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team kicks off the 2022 season when they travel Ohio to take on Youngstown State on Friday, Feb. 11 at 1:00 p.m. The Bonnies will remain in Ohio to take on Akron on Sunday, Feb. 13, beginning at noon.
 
LET THE GAMES BEGIN
  • The Bonnies finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 2-10.
  • Returning this season for the Brown and White is junior Courtney Fox (11 goals, 14 points), junior Nora Anderson (nine goals, 10 groundballs), sophomore Maddie Mazur (nine goals, 11 groundballs), sophomore Abby Hiltz (nine goals, 10 points), and junior Emily Mahon (21 groundballs, 11 caused turnovers).
  • In net, junior Ashley Herrick (nine games played, 52 saves) and senior Hayley McIntyre (five games played, 13 saves) each played a role as goalkeeper last season for the Bonnies.
  • Eight of the top nine leading scorers for the Bonnies in 2021 return for this season. The Bonnies will need to replace leading goal scorer Destinee Johnson, though, who graduated following last season.
  • St. Bonaventure is projected to finish 10th in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll.
 
SENIOR LEADERS  
ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN STATE
  • The Penguins finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 2-7.
  • The team returns sophomore attacker Erin Clark (16 goals, team-leader 20 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers) and fellow sophomores Jordan Miller (nine goals, 13 groundballs) and Lauren Ottensmeyer (16 goals, 18 points).
  • Graduate goalkeeper Savannah Clarke transferred to Youngstown State after spending four seasons at St. Bonaventure, where she ended her career fifth in program history in overall starts (29) and sixth in total saves (290).
  • Youngstown State was selected to finish fifth in the 2022 Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 13 points.
 
ABOUT AKRON
  • The Zips completed the 2021 season with an overall record of 7-8 and a MAC conference record of 4-6.
  • Juniors Julia Frombach (28 caused turnovers, 29 groundballs) and Alexis Kiefer (48 goals, 53 points) return for the 2022 season. InsideLacrosse named Fromback as the MAC Defensive Player of the Year and Kiefer as the MAC Offensive Player of the Year.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Lapp returns this season after playing 14 games and recording 95 saves in 2021.
  • Akron is projected to finish third in the 2022 Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 22 points and one first-place vote.

  • The Bonnies will take on first-year program Pittsburgh on Sunday, Feb. 20. Game time is scheduled for noon.
