FAIRFAX, Va. – Multiple school records were set as the St. Bonaventure men's track team scored an impressive first day at Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
Zach Buckner now owns two of those records.
First, the freshman posted a time of 1:57.95 in the 800 meters to easily surpass what was his own record of 2:02.34 set earlier this month.
Buckner then ran a new top mark in the 5000 by crossing the finish line in 15:51.91. That time shattered his previous personal best of 16:00.28 posted at Cornell.
Fellow freshman teammate
Colin McCarthy made it a 1-2 duo atop the Bonnies record books as he also set a personal best with his effort of 15:56.74, good for second in the program records and besting his previous top time of 16:00.41.
The third new school record came in the 1000 meters as
Zane Courtwright turned in a run of 2:36.43, beating the previous Bonnies best of 2:37.66.
In the distance medley relay, the team of Buckner, Courtwright,
Wyatt Hulsey and
Darion Gregory posted a time of 11:07.74, also a school-best.
Saturday was the first-ever competition for the Bonnies at the A-10 Indoor Championships, which conclude Sunday on ESPN+.
