Bonnies Host La Salle Friday; Travel To Davidson Sunday in Weekend Women’s Lacrosse A-10 Action

The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team will compete at home against La Salle on Friday then will travel to North Carolina to take on Davidson Sunday afternoon. Both games are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Bonnies fell at George Mason (15-7) and George Washington (13-10) this past weekend.
  • In Friday's contest against the Patriots, Maddie Mazur, Nora Anderson and Riley Schott each registered two goals. For Schott, it marked the first two goals of her collegiate career.
  • On Sunday, the Bonnies came back in the second half from a seven-goal deficit to cut it to one goal, 11-10, with six minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the Colonials were able to tack on two goals late in the final quarter to secure their victory.
  • Freshman Fiona McGovern tallied six goals in Sunday's game, while Nora Anderson (two goals), Abby Hiltz, and Madison Mundenar each contributed to the Bonnies comeback attempt.
 
IN THE RECORD BOOK
  • Fiona McGovern's six-goal afternoon against George Washington was one of the top-scoring days in Bonnies program history.
  • The Corlandt Manor, N.Y. native's six goals ties her for third for goals scored in a game in St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse history with Destinee Johnson and Laura Spalding, an SBU Athletics Hall of Fame member.
  • She was very efficient in this game, scoring six goals on eight shots.
  • McGovern tallied four second half goals to fuel the Bonnies comeback attempt.
  • She had the most goals of any Atlantic 10 freshman last week, despite playing in only one game.
  • During conference play, the first-year attacker is first in the A-10 in average points per game (4.50) and third in average goals per game (3.50).
  • On the season, McGovern is second on the team with 10 goals and tied for third in points with Maddie Mazur and Nora Anderson (12 points).
 
CAGE STATS
  • Junior goalkeeper Ashley Herrick is second in the Atlantic 10 conference in saves per game (11.56), trailing only VCU's Meghan Dawar (13.45).
  • Herrick stands seventh in the conference with a save percentage of .419.
  • So far this season, the third-year keeper has started nine games and recorded 104 saves.
 
ABOUT LA SALLE
  • On the season, the Explorers have an overall record of 3-9 and a conference record of 1-3.
  • Against Davidson on Sunday the team lost 18-7.
  • Emily Johnston (27 goals/48 draw controls), Maddie Henderson (15 goals/22 groundballs), and Tori Rolon (13 goals) are the team leaders this year.
  • Goalkeepers Julia Dellaratta (10 games played/65 saves) and Kelli McGroarty (12 games played/61 saves) have split time in net this season.
  • Johnston earned 2022 A-10 Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team honors as a midfielder.
  • La Salle was tabbed to finished tied for seventh in 2022 A-10 Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll.
 
ABOUT DAVIDSON
  • The Wildcats are 9-2 overall this season, starting conference play with a 3-1 record.
  • Davidson will host Duquesne on Friday before hosting St. Bonaventure.
  • On the field they are led by Erin Cooke (22 goals/26 assists), Grace Fahey (32 goals), Gianna New (27 goals/10 groundballs), and Julianne Carey (14 goals/41 draw controls.
  • 2022 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference goalkeeper selection Amanda Monahan has made 95 saves this season.
  • Noelle Cegielski (14 caused turnovers/11 groundballs) nabbed preseason honors as a defender, while Julianne Carey earned preseason honors as an attacker.
  • Davidson was projected to finish fourth according to the 2022 A-10 Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll.

  • The Bonnies will travel to Virginia to take on Richmond Thursday, April 14 and VCU Saturday, April 16. Game time for Thursday is 4:00 p.m. and Saturday's time is set for noon.
