The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team stays at home to host Rhode Island Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Reilly Center. Tip is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
OPENING TIP
- The Bonnies snapped a nine-game losing streak Thursday evening against Dayton, 54-53, thanks to Maddie Dziezgowski's game-winning shot with five seconds remaining on the clock. Dziezgowski finished with 11 points and was 4-for-6 from the field, including three 3-pointers.
- Nadechka Laccen dropped in a team-high 14 points and pulled down five rebounds. I'yanna Lops also finished in double figures with 10 points to go along with four blocks.
MORROW MAGIC
- Thursday marked the first head coaching victory at the collegiate level for Erica Morrow. She became the first head coach in Bonnies Division I program history to win their head coaching debut. Mary Jane Telford also won her head coaching debut in 1975 over Alfred Tech, 60-34.
BLOCK PARTY
- With four blocks Jan. 14 at Davidson, I'yanna Lops became the third player in Bonnies history with 100 career blocks with her career mark now sitting at 106. Katie Healy, '16 (155 blocks) and Vachelle Manly, '92 (123 blocks) are the only other players in program history with more than 100 blocks.
- The Stamford, Conn. native ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 10th in the NCAA with 45 blocks, setting a new career-high. She also sits second in the A-10 and 19th in the NCAA with 2.1 blocks per game.
- Lops has 15 games during her Bonnies career with three or more blocks while also registering four games with five or more. Earlier this season at Bucknell, Lops set the single game record with seven blocks.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Bonnies and Rams are set to meet for the 59th time Sunday afternoon. St. Bonaventure holds the edge in the all-time series, 33-25, but Rhode Island has won the last four matchups. Prior to their four-game skid against URI, the Bonnies captured 14 straight wins over the Rams from Feb. 10, 2009 to Jan. 26, 2020. The Bonnies are 21-7 all-time vs. Rhode Island at the Reilly Center.
RHODE ISLAND NOTES
- Rhode Island enters Sunday's contest 15-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams had dropped two straight games against Wake Forest and Princeton prior to the start of conference play. Last season, URI finished 22-7 overall and 12-2 in the A-10, but fell to Saint Joseph's in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Rhode Island earned a berth in the WNIT, falling to Quinnipiac in the first round. URI was picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- The Rams are coached by Tammi Reiss who is in her fourth season as head coach. In her three-plus seasons, Reiss has guided the Rams to a 61-34 record. Her 61 victories rank third all-time in Rhode Island women's basketball history.
- Maye Toure leads Rhode Island in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season. Through six conference games, Toure is averaging 16.0 points and 11.3 boards. Overall, she leads the A-10 in field goal percentage, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. Sophie Phillips leads the Rams with 42 made threes and is first in the A-10 in three-point percentage, hitting on 42.9 percent of her shots from outside.
- As a team, the Rams lead the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage (43.8 percent), three-point percentage (36.4 percent), scoring defense (56.1 ppg allowed), scoring margin (+13.8) and rebounding margin (+8.1).

- The Bonnies head to the City of Brotherly Love for a pair of Atlantic 10 matchups. Bona's takes on Saint Joseph's Wednesday, Jan. 25 and then finish up the trip Saturday, Jan. 28 at La Salle.
