GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sixteen of 22 St. Bonaventure men's cross country runners ran personal best times and the Bonnies were the top-finishing college team in an outstanding effort despite rainy conditions Saturday at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational.

St. Bonaventure placed second overall in the 26-team field, behind only a sponsored New Balance club team. It marks one of the best showings in a full field meet for the Bonnies in program history.

The Bonnies posted a team score of 86, behind only the Pacers/GRC New Balance score of 24. Mount St. Mary's was third (113) while Allegheny (153) and Franklin & Marshall (168) rounded out the top five.

Clay Peets placed third individually in the field of 263 competitors. He ran the 8K course going through the historic Gettysburg battlefields in a time of 24:39.7, behind only two Pacers/GRC New Balance runners. The winning time was 24:25.6 and Peets was the top runner representing a collegiate team. Peets' average mile time was 4:57.7.

Aiden Scattergood and Zane Courtwright each were in the top 10 as well with the Bonnies registering three top-10 times overall.

Scattergood finished the course in 24:51.9, a new personal best time that stands second individually in the program record books behind only Peets who set the school record with a time of 24:16.3 set earlier this fall. The sophomore finished sixth in the large field.

Courtwright also ran his best collegiate mark of 25:16.6 to place 10th individually. He remains third in the program record books, but bettered his previous top effort by 20 seconds.

Ethan Luce (26:23.6) and Alex Ryan (26:29.1) were also in the Bonnies scoring with PR times. Luce jumps from a tie for 15th in the individual program top times to 12th in Bona history while Ryan is now 13th.

Bona's top seven rounded out with Colin McCarthy (26:36.9) and Kieran Ryan (26:37.3) with Ryan also posting a new top-20 program record book time.

Saturday's effort is easily Bona's best at the Gettysburg meet. The Bonnies last competed in the meet back in 2018, finishing 14th. On that day five years ago, the Bonnies top time of 27:24.3 would today rank 12th in the team standings.

St. Bonaventure will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday, Oct. 28 in Cedarville, Ohio.
