GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure women's cross country team turned in a strong third-place finish out of 28 teams competing, fighting rainy conditions at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational Saturday morning.
Three Bonnies placed top-20 in the field of 244 runners – Jenna Gregory missed a top-10 finish by less than a second as she ran the 6K course along the historic Gettysburg battlefields in a time of 22:40.9. She had a mile pace of 6:05.
Mia Winters was 15th overall at 22:51.1, just ahead of teammate Meghan Lex who PR'ed with a time of 22:55.5 which will jump to sixth individually in the program record books.
As a team, the Bonnies posted a score of 103 behind only Saint Francis (PA) at 76 and the NOVA Running Club (55).
Katelyn Wilkes (23:25.2) and Claire Cuneo (23:36.7) gave the Bonnies two more strong times in their scoring.
Molly Gipson (23:49.0) and Lauren McGee (23:53.2) each set new personal best times top round out the team's top seven. Gipson moves to 13th in the program record book while McGee now is 15th.
Saturday's performance matches the women's team's best finish at Gettysburg – the Bonnies also finished third in 2017.
The Bonnies next compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday, Oct. 28 in Cedarville, Ohio.
