BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Clay Peets and sophomore Aiden Scattergood each broke the existing school record as the St. Bonaventure men's cross country team wrapped up the fall season Friday afternoon at Northeast Regionals.
Peets ran the Van Cortlandt Park 10K course in a time of 31:07.3 to shatter the previous school record by over a full minute. The standing school-best mark of 32:14 had been held since 1980 by John Sullivan.
The Ohio native now owns Bona's 5K, 8K and 10K record times.
Scattergood also beat Sullivan's school record mark as he crossed the stripe in 31:51.7.
Peets finished 85th out of 259 competitors at the meet while Scattergood stood 134th.
Seven Bonnies qualified for the NCAA regional event.
While Peets and Scattergood now own the two top spots in the school record book, senior Zane Courtwright jumps to eighth in Bonnies history with his run of 33:00.5.
Sophomore Alex Ryan also ran a top-15 10K time of 33:57.1 which will stand 14th in the school record book. Classmate Ethan Luce gave the Bonnies one more top-20 program record book mark of 34:20.5 to tie for 20th in Bona's history.
Also competing for the Bonnies were freshman Joshua Lopez (34:33.9) and junior Colin McCarthy (34:48.2).
As a team, the Bonnies finished 32nd out of 37 teams with 840 points to beat out LIU (1002), Niagara (1016), Sacred Heart (1039), Quinnipiac (1115) and Fairfield (1139).
