ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure won in a hard-fought match against the Wheeling Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.
The first half was a contested battle as Bonaventure took control with their kicking game. The pack took that momentum into the halftime break, leading 17-5 over Wheeling.
Wheeling opened the second half with a try after a Bonaventure turnover, but the Bonnies weathered the storm.
The strong second-half effort led to a 26-13 victory for Bonaventure.
"The boys were excited and ready to go for some playoff rugby. We learned some valuable lessons during the regular season that we were keen to implement in today's game, and I think that showed through how fired up all the boys were. It was a real team performance and puts us in a good position going forward to the semifinal," said Matthew Conroy.
The Bonnies prepare for semifinal action on December 2nd at PSU Berks in a rematch from last year against Brown University.
