The St. Bonaventure University baseball team will play a three-game series in Maryland against Mount St. Mary's beginning on Friday, March 13. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. All three games will be available live on Mount All-Access.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Bonnies dropped a four-game series at Gardner-Webb last weekend.
- The bullpen was a bright spot for St. Bonaventure against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
- In game two Friday, senior Tripp Breen threw 5.2 innings in relief, allowing only one run and matching his career-high in strikeouts with seven.
- Freshman Bobby Finn worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen in game one Friday, giving up one hit and striking out a batter.
- In the first game on Saturday, Rushil Bhat pitched two innings, surrendering one run on three hits with two strikeouts.
- Saturday's game two featured Jonny Lintell, Ryan O'Connell, and Andrew Ayers who each threw a scoreless frame for Bona's.
TEAM LEADERS
- At the plate a trio of veterans lead the Bonnies in batting average so far this season.
- Christian Szablewski (.364/one homerun), Danny Manion (.300/eight RBIs), and Jackson DeJohn (.289/four RBIs) are the current leaders.
- Behind Manion, senior Jack Putney is second on the team with six runs-batted in.
- On the mound, Breen and graduate pitcher Liam Devine have struck out 13 batters, while sophomore Gabe Watts has recorded 11 punch outs this year.
ABOUT MOUNT ST. MARY'S
- The Mount enters this weekend series with a 7-8 overall record to start the year, dropping two out of three games this past weekend to UMBC.
- Offensively, Mount St. Mary's is led by Tyler Long (.345 batting average/three doubles) and Scott Seeker (.302 batting average/two homeruns) who have started every game this season, while Efrain Correa Jr. is hitting .342 with 11 RBIs in 14 games played this year.
- On the bump, starter Cooper Adams (2-0) has a team-high 21.2 innings pitched, recording a 2.91 ERA with 16 strikeouts. Reliver Jett Slepak (1.64 ERA/13 strikeouts) has tallied three saves in six appearances.
- Mount St. Mary's was selected to finish tied for eighth in the 2023 MAAC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The 2022-23 season marks the first season that the Mount is a member Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), previously being a part of the Northeast Conference (NEC).
UP NEXT
The Bonnies make their debut at home this season with a three-game set against Merrimack, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25. Saturday's first pitch is slated for noon.
