The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team gears up for two more conference games this week after starting A-10 play unbeaten through the first week of conference play. The Bonnies picked up a point in a 0-0 draw with Dayton Thursday and earned their first win in conference play at Davidson on Sunday.
GOT(TINGER) SAVES?
Chiara Gottinger posted back-to-back shutouts last week and garnered Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors. The junior climbs into a tie for fourth with Maraget Reif, '97, in the Bonnies record books for career shutouts with 12. The Pirching am Traubenberg, Austria native is also second in saves among active D-I goalkeepers with 326.
KEEP IT ROLLING
This is the first time the Bonnies have gone unbeaten to start conference play since 2009 when they won their first four Atlantic 10 games. That season, the Bonnies went 7-3 in conference play and it was the last time they posted a record over .500 until 2021 when the team went 5-4-1 in A-10 action.
FORDHAM NOTES
The Rams have started their season with a 3-4-2 overall record, and similarly to the Bonnies, collected a win and a tie to start A-10 action. Last week, Fordham was victorious over George Mason by a score of 4-2, then played to a scoreless draw with George Washington.
The Rams are led offensively by a pair of freshmen, Riley Carroll and Lena Johnsen. Johnsen was named this week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as she posted a goal and an assist in the Rams win over George Mason. Carroll heads the Rams lineup in points with seven points (3G, 1A).
ABOUT DUQUESNE
The Dukes have put up two ties to begin their conference slate. A 1-1 draw with Davidson and a 0-0 final score with Loyal Chicago put DU at 3-5-2 for the season. DU is scheduled to play at Rhode Island Thursday before making the trip to St. Bonaventure for a Sunday matinee matchup.
Mary Neundorfer has played the majority of minutes in goal for the Dukes and made 46 saves in 10 games played. A sophomore duo leads the attack for Duquesne as Maya Matesa and Brianna Moore have three goals apiece.
The Dukes have a 0-4-1 record on the road with their lone tie coming at Davidson last Thursday.
