Welcome to "Behind The Bonnies," a new GoBonnies.com series where we get to know the student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we met up with Bonnies cross country/track athlete Alex Ryan.

Alex Ryan has had a successful campaign with St. Bonaventure since joining Bonnies cross country/track. As a freshman he made his mark on the team, qualifying for Atlantic 10 Championships in cross country and indoor track.

As a sophomore, Ryan placed in the team's top-seven three times during cross country while competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships and NCAA Northeast Regionals. During track season Ryan posted the second-fastest program time for the 1000 meters (2:29.14) and competed in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships once again.

Ryan has top 10 times in school history for the 800 meters and mile in indoor track as well as the 1500-meter run for outdoor track. Ryan also boasts top-20 program times in cross country for the 5K, 8K and 10K. 

Alex Ryan is a native of Ashburn, Va. Both of Ryan's parents played soccer at George Mason University and his father played soccer for Manchester United Academy. His brother Matt is his teammate on the Bonnies cross country/track teams.
 

What is your favorite memory playing your sport? Winning states my senior year [of high school]

What is your favorite hobby to do outside of playing your sport? Reading

Where is your dream vacation spot? Tanzania 

What is the best part about being a part of your Bonnies team? My teammates and traveling to new places

Why did you choose St. Bonaventure? It's a special community and has special people 

If you could live inside one TV show/movie what would it be? Star Wars 

What is your favorite social media app and why?: Instagram - Instagram reels are awesome

Where is your favorite place you've traveled with the team? Virginia Beach 

What is your favorite class on campus? Intro to Ethics - It was fun and interesting

You can bring any four people to dinner, who are you inviting? The Beatles

What is your favorite spot on campus? Library 

If you weren't playing your sport, what other sport would you most like to play? Soccer
