Saturday, March 30 – 1:00 p.m.
Richmond, Va.

The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team is set to play their final non-conference contest as they host Youngstown State Wednesday.  The team will then travel to Richmond for an Atlantic 10 match up with the Spiders Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies suffered their first setback in conference play, dropping a road battle at Massachusetts. In the 21-5 loss, Bona had five different goal scorers, including Jessica Notaro who has scored in each of the Bonnies' four A-10 games.

NOTABLES
  • Brit Colangelo remains one of the best defenders in the Atlantic 10, causing 1.73 turnovers per game. That mark is the second-best in the A-10 this season. The sophomore set a personal best in the category in Wednesday's game against Duquesne with five. She also scored her first career goal in the contest, converting on a free position opportunity.
  • Bona's graduate goalkeeper Ashley Herrick has been phenomenal in cage. She has a league-leading 9.97 goals against average. That mark is 27th among Division I goalkeepers.
  • The Bonnies 19-6 victory over Duquesne last Wednesday was notable for multiple reasons. SBU's 19 goals scored was the most in an Atlantic 10 contest since April 20, 2002, when they won a 19-9 game over George Washington. They also allowed the fewest goals in a game this year at six.
  • The Bonnies caused 16 turnovers as a team against the Dukes, the most in a single game this season.
  • Senior Kassi Hogan had an incredible stat line in the victory, scoring three goals and picking up six groundballs in addition to her six caused turnovers.

PUT A BOW ON IT
Wednesday's game against Youngstown State will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Brown and White. The Bonnies own a 3-4 non-conference record this season, with two of three wins coming at the Marra Athletics Complex. Their third win was at California and was the first-ever Power-5 victory in St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse history.

MORGAN'S MESSAGE
On Wednesday, the Bonnies will play in support of Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message is a non-profit organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. They aim to expand the dialogue on mental health by normalizing conversations, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and the Penguins have met just once before. In 2022, the teams met in Youngstown, Ohio where the Penguins took an 18-7 victory over the Bonnies.

ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN
  • The Penguins have been held winless through their first 10 games of the 2024 season. They have dropped their first two MAC games to Kent State and Detroit Mercy.
  • Youngstown has met with two Atlantic 10 opponents this year. In February, the Penguins lost a 17-13 contest to Duquesne and on March 13 they fell to George Washington 14-11 at home.
  • The Penguins are under the direction of Rob Harris. Harris is in his first season at Youngstown, his first Division I head coaching position. He was previously at Division II Davenport from 2014-2022.
  • Freshman Lena Cox is YSU's leading scorer with 28 points on 21 goals and seven assists. The 4'11" attacker has scored in all but one of the Penguins contests.
  • Cox and teammate Ally Garrett played high school lacrosse at Rush-Henrietta in Henrietta, N.Y. with Bonnies Brooke Cicoria, Alexys Oechsle, and Megan Schillinger

SERIES HISTORY VS RICHMOND
The Bonnies are 2-18 all-time against Richmond. In last year's meeting, the Spiders took a 20-12 victory over SBU at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Bonnies have never won at Robins Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.

ABOUT RICHMOND
  • The Spiders are currently ranked No. 25 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Poll.
  • Richmond has an 8-2 overall record with losses to #14 Navy and #13/15 Virginia.
  • Picked first in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, Richmond remains one of two unbeaten teams in the conference with a 4-0 record going into Saturday's game. The Spiders most recently beat St. Joseph's, 16-12 at home.
  • The Spiders are perennial A-10 front-runners and have won three of the last five Atlantic 10 postseason tournaments.
  • A-10 Preseason All-Conference selection Collen Quinn leads the Spiders in scoring with 42 points on 28 goals and 14 assists.
