St. Bonaventure rising junior Chris Hoalcraft was named the New York Collegiate Baseball League Championship Series Most Valuable Player after helping the Syracuse Salt Cats to an NYCBL championship in summer ball action.
Hoalcraft scored four runs and posted four RBIs with five hits in a two-game sweep of the Dansville Gliders.
For the summer, Hoalcraft hit .282 with Syracuse along with six doubles, three triples and a homer. He registered 17 RBIs and 26 stolen bases.
In other notable summer ball action for the Bonnies:
Rising junior Conner Vercollone earned a spot in the Futures League All-Star Game while playing with the Brockton Rox. Vercollone hit .288 in 39 games this summer with the Rox, posting 10 doubles, a triple and 21 stolen bases while driving in 16 runs.
Rising senior Luke Roggenburk put up outstanding numbers for the New Market Rebels of the Valley League. He made 19 relief appearances with a 1.33 ERA, recording two saves and 35 strikeouts against just seven walks in 27 innings on the hill.
Gabe Watts, a rising senior on the Bonnies roster, also pitched for New Market this summer with two wins in 15 appearances along with 31 strikeouts in 21.1 innings out of the bullpen.
Rising sophomore Gavin Constantine played in the California Collegiate League with the San Luis Obispo Blues. He saw action in 19 games, posting three triples, four stolen bases and five RBIs.Â
Jeremiah Atwell played for the Olean Oilers of the NYCBL and saw action in 18 games, hitting .288 with a homer and 16 RBIs. He also had a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate. The rising sophomore catcher redshirted this past season with the Bonnies.
Alex Barger pitched in the Appalachian League with the Danville Otterbots. The rising sophomore made 10 appearances including two starts, striking out 26 batters in 19.1 innings of work.
David Marshall Jr. played in 10 games for the Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League. The rising senior was an Atlantic 10 All-Conference pick at shortstop this past season.
Rising junior Michael Salina made a start with the Brewster Whitecaps of the prestigious Cape Cod League. He struck out three in five innings of work.
