The GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Oct. 19 are men's soccer senior Avery Dreasky and men's cross country redshirt senior Clay Peets.
Dreasky tallied a goal to help the Bonnies to a 2-2 draw on the road at Atlantic 10 preseason favorite Dayton last Saturday evening.
Seth Hammond found the ball on his foot in the 55th minute in a 1-1 game and played Dean Mercer down the line. Mercer sent a perfect cross into the box where Dreasky was waiting to head home the goal.
Dreasky's goal marked the first goal of his career.
Peets continued his amazing season with another meet victory this past Saturday in Gettysburg.
For the second consecutive meet, Peets led wire-to-wire in a dominating performance.
The Akron, Ohio native showed the way in the meet of over 320 competitors, often distancing the field with an 8K mark of 23:56.8. He ran the first mile in 4:38 to separate himself and never looked back. At the end of the race, Peets cleared the competition by 14 seconds.
His run under sun-splashed skies and nearly perfect conditions Saturday morning marks the first time a Bonnies competitor has broken the 24-minute barrier in an 8K race and easily surpasses his previous program record effort of 24:12.2 set two weeks ago in Louisville. Peets also smashed the existing Gettysburg College course record of 24:15 in the 36th edition of the meet.
This fall, Peets has won three of his four meets with his worst finish being second.
