ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse head coach
LeighAnn Stauffer has announced the team's 2026 schedule, highlighted by seven home contests at the Marra Athletics Complex.Â
The Bonnies are coming off a successful 10-8 season last spring, earning a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons.
Â
Bona will kick things off in the new season with back-to-back challenging home games, facing Colgate on Feb. 7 and Long Island on Feb. 13 at the Marra Athletics Complex.
Colgate has made the Patriot League Tournament three out of the past four years, falling to Holy Cross in the first round last season after going 9-7 in the regular season. The Raiders toppled the Bonnies 16-6 in the teams' most recent meeting, a 2022 matchup at the Marra Athletics Complex. Long Island has appeared in the NEC Tournament for five straight seasons, winning the title each of the last two seasons to make the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Dolphins went 10-6 in the regular season, eventually falling to fifth-ranked Virginia in the first round of the national tournament. This season's meeting will be the first between the Bonnies and Dolphins.
Â
Bona's will then see the first road competition of the season, traveling to Binghamton on Feb. 18 before quickly turning around to face Bucknell on Feb. 21.
Â
SBU picked up a 10-6 home win over Binghamton last season in the teams' first matchup in 10 years. The Bearcats finished 5-10 overall. Bucknell is a familiar foe for the Bonnies, as the two have met in each of the last four years. Those results were split evenly, though Bonaventure owns the all-time series lead at 7-4. The Bison missed out on the Patriot League Tournament last season, finishing 6-10 overall.
Â
A return to home field comes on Feb. 25 as Robert Morris visits before the Bonnies hit the road for a four-game stretch. The Colonials are a perennial MAC Tournament contender who made the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The team went 7-10 in the 2025 regular season and owns the all-time series lead with six wins to the Bonnies' three.
Â
The Brown and White will then kick off the lengthy road stretch by traveling to face Little Three rival Niagara on Feb. 28. The Purple Eagles snuck by the Bonnies with a 6-5 road win last season, moving closer to evening the all-time series record, which currently sits at 10-9 in SBU's favor.Â
Â
Bona will then shift focus to a March 4 matchup with first-time opponent Furman as part of a Spring Break trip south. The Paladins are in the midst of a four-year stretch of Big South Tournament appearances, making it to the second round last season before falling to High Point.
Â
Just three days later, Bonaventure will undergo its first Atlantic 10 test when the team travels to face Davidson on March 7. The Wildcats have not missed out on the A-10 Tournament since 2019, aside from the shortened COVID season in 2020. The Wildcats picked up a 10-8 road win at the Marra Athletics Complex last season en route to a 12-4 regular season record.
Â
To round out the four-game road swing, Cornell will welcome the Bonnies on March 11 following a return to the Empire State. It will be the programs' first-ever meeting and the final non-conference game of the season for Bonaventure. The Big Red compiled a 9-6 record last season, competing against five nationally ranked teams throughout the year as an Ivy League member.
Â
St. Bonaventure finally returns home on March 14 for Senior Day against VCU. The Rams have not beaten the Bonnies since 2022, dropping last season's matchup 18-9. The team went 7-10 in the 2025 regular season, beating Davidson in the A-10 Tournament before falling to Saint Joseph's in the title game.
Â
SBU will remain at home for its next contest against Duquesne on March 18. The Dukes have also failed to beat the Bonnies in each of the past three meetings, falling 20-12 last season in Pittsburgh on the way to a 5-10 overall record.
Â
Two road games will follow for Bona as the squad travels to Rhode Island on March 21 and Richmond on March 28.
Â
Rhode Island, which opened play as a new program last season, lost to the Bonnies 22-10 last season in the teams' first ever meeting. The Rams finished 8-8 on the year.
Â
Richmond had the upper hand in two meetings with the Brown and White last season, winning 13-9 in the regular season before again matching up in the A-10 Tournament, where the Spiders moved on with an 11-8 victory after the Bonnies built an early lead. Richmond has appeared in the conference tournament every year since 2020, also making two NCAA Tournament appearances in that time.
Â
On April 4, the Bonnies will return to Western New York for a contest against Saint Joseph's. A perennial A-10 Tournament contender, the Hawks finished 10-7 in the 2025 regular season and reached the conference title game, eventually falling to UMass. The Bonnies were on the wrong side of the programs' matchup last year, losing 15-9.
Â
Rounding out Bona's road schedule will be an April 11 contest at George Mason, followed by a game one week later at La Salle on April 18.
Â
George Mason finished with a 7-10 overall record last season and lost to the Bonnies at the Marra Athletics Complex, 16-11. SBU also toppled La Salle last year, fighting to a 19-6 win at home. The Explorers finished with a 1-15 overall record and have not beaten the Bonnies since 2022.
Â
To close out the regular season, Bonaventure will return to home field on April 25 and face George Washington. A 17-7 Bonnies victory last season was the team's second win in as many years against the Revolutionaries. This will be the second straight season that Bonaventure has played its regular season finale against George Washington, who compiled an 8-9 overall record.
Â
The top four teams from the regular season standings will advance to the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which will be held April 30-May 3 in Davidson, N.C.
