The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team travels to Rhode Island for the second Atlantic 10 game of the season. Saturday's 1:00 p.m. contest will be the first-ever meeting between the Bonnies and the Rams in the sport of women's lacrosse as Rhody is in its inaugural season.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies secured a dominant first A-10 win of the season last week over La Salle, 19-6. Bona's 19 goals were the most this season, and the most in an Atlantic 10 game since last season's 19-6 win over Duquesne.
Fiona McGovern (2G-3A),
Rylee Gonzalez (4G-1A), and
Tori Nascimento (4G-1A) all scored five points in the win. The Bonnies dominated almost every statistical category, including shots (38-16), groundballs (15-9), and draw controls (20-9).
RANKING NATIONALLY
Megan Schillinger is tied for fourth in draw controls per game (10.0) with No. 14 James Madison's Madison Epke. Schillinger is one of just five players in Division I averaging 10 or more draw controls per game. As a team, the Bonnies are seventh in draw control percentage, winning 63.7 percent of draw controls this season.
Â
The Bonnies defense has been stellar through the opening portion of the season. Sophomore goalie Katleyn Hicks' save percentage of .510 has helped Bona's to the 20
th best scoring defense in D-I, allowing only 9.0 goals per game.
Â
100 POINT CLUB
Junior
Brooke Piper is one point away from reaching 100 in her career. Piper currently has 99 points on 82 goals and 17 assists through her first 43 games in Brown and White. The Aurora, Ontario native has been an efficient scorer with a shot percentage of 45.8. Piper will join 18 other Bonnies in the 100-point club, including teammate
Fiona McGovern and head coach
LeighAnn Stauffer.
Â
COACHING MILESTONE
With one more win, head coach
LeighAnn Stauffer will reach 20 wins at St. Bonaventure. If Stauffer collects the win at Rhode Island, she would be the second-fastest coach to 20 wins in program history (44 games). Former Bona coach Tony Zostant earned 20 wins through his first 39 games from 2001 to mid-2003 aided by a 10 game win streak to begin the 2003 season.

ABOUT RHODE ISLAND
- In its inaugural season, Rhode Island has begun the year 4-3 and 0-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams got off to a hot start, beating their first two opponents in Merrimack and Central Connecticut. After that, they dropped two games in a row to Rider and Bryant before bouncing back two road wins at FDU and Stonehill.
- The Rams are still in search of their first A-10 win of the season after dropping the opener at Massachusetts Wednesday, 18-8.
- Caralie Basuel is the Ram's leading scorer with 21 points this season. The redshirt freshman had a career-high seven points in the season opener vs Merrimack and has double digit goals in all but one game this season.
- Redshirt junior Casey Phelps has been outstanding in cage in her first season with the Rams. The Hofstra transfer leads the A-10 in save percentage at .528 and is third in goals against average at 9.6.Â
