WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure redshirt senior Clay Peets has received Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors after another standout performance in the second meet of the fall season, conference officials announced Tuesday.
For the ninth time in his Bonnies cross country career, Peets set a new program record as he established an 8K time of 24:15.1 at Saturday's Lock Haven Invitational.
The Akron, Ohio native surpassed his previous school record mark by just over a second as he finished second in the field of 209 competitors, approximately two and a half seconds behind the race-winner.
Peets has now earned A-10 weekly honors following both meets the Bonnies have competed in this season – he was also crowned the top A-10 runner of the week following the season-opening Little Three Championship earlier this month.
In another bit of program history, Peets adds to his resume with his sixth career A-10 weekly award, the most by any Bonnies runner, male or female.
St. Bonaventure returns to action in the prestigious Louisville Cross Country Classic this Saturday in the Bluegrass State.
