The GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending March 15 are men's basketball senior Frank Mitchell and softball sophomore Abigail Ahern.
Mitchell averaged 16 points and 7.3 rebounds in three Atlantic 10 Tournament games this past week.
In a first round win over La Salle, he finished with 18 points and nine rebounds along with four assists and two steals. The next day, he helped power an upset of George Mason with 14 points, seven boards and six steals before wrapping up the tourney with 16 points, six boards and three steals vs. Dayton.
For the year, Mitchell ranked 14th nationally and led the A-10 in rebounds per game (10.2 rpg) while his 19 double-doubles paced the conference and stood fourth among all Division I players. He also led the country in offensive rebounds per game (4.26).
Ahern hit .625 (5-for-8) with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored across three games, helping the Bonnies to a series win over Rhode Island in the first weekend of the A-10 softball schedule.
She registered a hit and an RBI in the game one win before exploding for two home runs and four RBIs in the game two victory. The second-year infielder added a pair of hits and an RBI in the series finale Sunday.
