KINGSTON, N.Y. – Two individuals placed in the top dozen finishers to highlight the final regular season tune-up of the spring prior to the Atlantic 10 Championship in two weeks as the Bonnies took an eighth-place finish as a team in 36 holes of action at Saturday's Roar-EE Invitational at Wiltwyck Golf Course.
St. Bonaventure recorded a sparkling team score of 5-under 283 in the morning round before finishing with a second round 296. Bona's 579 team total ranked eighth in the 15-team field. Fairfield claimed the championship at 561, ahead of host Columbia and Iona which tied for second at 567. SBU was the top A-10 team in the field, beating out ninth-place Fordham by one shot.
Seniors Gabe Williams and Caleb Decker each found red figures in the morning round.
Williams carded a 3-under 69 over the opening 18, then logged even-par 72 in the afternoon to tie for eighth out of 90 competitors. He drained nine birdies over the 36 holes, good for fourth in the field.
Decker also went low with his strongest tournament of the spring, firing 4-under 68 in the first round. In the afternoon, he finished with 2-over 74, but remained 12th on the leaderboard with a 142 tournament total.
The third member of Bona's senior trio, Michael Bucko turned in a 148 total for the day at 4-over for the tournament after rounds of 73 and 75. Freshman Colin Barber finished in an identical tie with his senior teammate with matching rounds.
Also in the lineup for the Bonnies was sophomore Braddock Damore (75-75/150).
Playing as an individual, freshman Tyler Berkman logged matching rounds of 75-75/150.
