FAIRFAX, Va. – Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship Weekend brought two new school records, a host of personal best performances and one extremely memorable gutty showing as the St. Bonaventure women's track team completed the 2026 season.
The Bonnies got off to a strong start on Saturday afternoon under sunny skies and nearly perfect conditions with two impressive performances in the 1500.
Sophomore Madison McMahon set a big PR of 4:48.63, over eight seconds better than her previous best time set at Bucknell earlier this spring. She vaulted to second individually in the school record book as well with the top time by a Bonnies runner in the event since 2013 when Kady Weisner posted 4:48.03. McMahon's time is the best by a Bonnie in the 1500 at Atlantic 10 Championships by over four seconds.
Freshman Sydney March also established a new PR in the 1500 as she clocked in at 4:49.09. She bested her previous top mark by almost six seconds and moves to third in the program record book.
The afternoon got even better for Bona's when sophomore Madeline McKillop posted a new school record time in the 800.
McKillop ran the George Mason track in a time of 2:15.23, beating her own record of 2:16.76 set earlier this spring. McKillop placed 15th out of 29 qualifiers for the championship meet.
Senior Meghan Litteer gave the team another new school record in sprints as she also broke her own existing Bona benchmark. In Saturday's race, she clocked in at 26.07, eclipsing her 26.19 of earlier this year to finish her collegiate career on a record-setting note.
Freshman Brianna Reynolds made her A-10 Outdoor Championships debut in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.36 to finish 18th out of 21 qualifiers.
Senior Mia Winters opened Sunday morning's competition with a season-best run in the 3000-meter steeplechase to begin one of the toughest showings by a Bonnie in recent memory.
She just missed a top-10 conference finish as she placed 11th out of 22 A-10 qualifiers by timing in at 11:20.26 in the steeplechase.
Faced with two challenging events in the same day following the postponement of the steeplechase on Saturday night, Winters then ran the 5K just over two hours later. She wrapped up a memorable finish to her college career by finishing the 5000 meters in 18:08.01 which was good for 25th out of 34 competitors.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The first day of championships was highlighted by incredible performances from the mid-distance runners, showing the depth and strength of the group with personal bests from nearly the entire team. On the women's side, four runners broke the 5-minute barrier, led by Maddie McMahon who moved into second on the program's all-time list. In the 800, Maddie McKillop broke the school record once again. To round out the day, Meghan Litteer closed her collegiate career by running a personal best.
"Sunday, we got to witness the final races of Mia Winters' career. After the steeple was postponed (Saturday) due to water barrier issues, she came back to place 11th and just two hours later turned around to run a very strong 18:08 in the 5K with very little recovery. She put together an incredible career defined by toughness, consistency and range. We're proud to have been part of her journey."
