ROCHESTER – The St. Bonaventure women's outdoor track team battled challenging spring conditions on a cold and blustery Sunday at the University of Rochester Invitational, scoring two event wins and eight personal bests.

Senior Mia Winters captured victory in the 5000 meters with a winning time of 18:03.63. She crossed the stripe nearly 15 seconds ahead of anyone else in the field of 18 competitors.

Junior Jayne Gavin also finished first in the 10K (42:31.86).

In mid-distance, the 1500 was a standout event for the Bonnies.

Naina Slaughter finished third out of 36 competitors with her time of 4:56.63. That effort vaults to fifth individually in school history and is the top run all spring for the Bonnies in the event. Freshman Sydney March also established new personal best of 4:58.95, over five seconds better than her previous PR as she moves up to eighth in school history while taking fifth in Sunday's races. Fellow freshman Jillian Lozo also won her heat race with a PR of 5:04.42, good for ninth overall in the meet.

Meghan Litteer ran second in the 100 with a time of 12.99, also winning her heat, and just off the event top time of 12.50. Also in sprints, Julia Wyant placed fourth out of 20 starters in the 200 with an effort of 26.94, ahead of teammate Malaika George who PR'ed at 27.11.

Madeline McKillop placed second in the 400 (1:00.50) while Malaika George was fourth (1:01.20) and Lana Holt set a PR with a new top-10 individual program time of 1:04.89.

Two relay teams also recorded top-five program 4x400 times: Adria Magnusson, Sarah Carroll, Faith Caldwell and Madeline McKillop (4:23.65) as well as Mary Trost, Alex Jensen, Naina Slaughter and Madison McMahon (4:25.01).

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The teams battled rain, snow and sleet, but despite the conditions they came away with some solid times. It was a tough day weather-wise, but a day of progress for us. The sprint group was once again led by Meghan Litteer who continues to establish herself as our top sprinter. It was also great to see Lana Holt return from injury and pick up right where she left off.

"The mid-distance crew had an outstanding day in the 1500 with Naina and Sydney both breaking the 5-minute mark along with several other personal best performances. Maddie McKillop continues to emerge as a key 400/800 runner for us as well.

"On the distance side, Mia Winters led the way in the 5K with her win. Jayne Gavin continues to come back from a broken foot last track season and took first in the 10K. Brooke Hudnall also continued her impressive streak by setting a new PR in the 5K for the third consecutive meet."
