KICKING OFF
The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team resumes its four-game homestand this week as the Bonnies are set to host Le Moyne on Thursday evening before welcoming Niagara on Monday evening with both contests streaming live on ESPN+ from the Marra Athletics Complex.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Despite shutting out Little Three rival Canisius at home for the first 85 minutes of the match, the Bonnies were unable to secure a winning result this past Sunday after conceding a late score to last season's MAAC runners-up. Senior goalkeeper Juliana Castellano made her second start of the season against the Golden Griffins, playing the full 90 minutes and making six total saves.
 
ROOKIE SUCCESS
Two Bona's freshmen have burst onto the scene in 2026, earning their first career points at the collegiate level early in non-conference play.

Liana Tata has started and played full-time in all three of the Bonnies' match-ups so far this season. The Rochester, N.Y. native scored her first Division I goal on a penalty kick opposite Cornell. Aoife Murphy, a native of the United Kingdom, has played 65 total minutes spanning two appearances and also buried her first D-I score against Cornell to pull SBU within one goal late in the match.

Also contributing to the team's successful youth is sophomore Ava Reybitz, a first-year Bonnie who transferred from William & Mary after seeing action in three contests for the Tribe in 2025. Since joining SBU, the Bethlehem, Pa. native has started in every match. She lifted the Bonnies to a 1-0 victory over Saint Peter's, logging her first collegiate goal in that season opener.
 
BETWEEN THE POSTS
After posting complete games against both Saint Peter's and Canisius, Castellano owns the second-best save rate in the Atlantic 10 (88.9 percent). Freshman Callie Turpin earned the start in net against Cornell and made five saves after facing 21 shots.
 
ABOUT LE MOYNE

• The Dolphins are led by first-year head coach Taylor Van Fleet after she spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Binghamton. She brings a winning pedigree to the Syracuse area as she helped the Bearcats to three America East Conference regular season titles in her tenure.
• Le Moyne was selected 10th out of 11 programs in the 2026 NEC Preseason Coaches Poll.
• Thursday's visitors will be looking for their first victory of the season after falling to Canisius (2-0), Iona (2-1), Niagara (2-0) and Binghamton (4-0) to start the year.
• Freshman forward Emma Sousa tallied the Dolphins' lone score of the 2026 campaign to this point, finding the back of the net against Iona.
• Junior goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron has shouldered the entirety of the goalkeeping for the Dolphins, stopping 26 shots for a save rate of 72.2 percent.

 
ABOUT NIAGARA

• The Purple Eagles are led by former Bona's head coach Donny George in his second season with the program. Prior to his tenure as the Bonnies' head coach, which spanned the 2023 and 2024 seasons, George covered duties as an assistant coach at Niagara. After departing from SBU's staff and returning to Niagara Falls following the 2024 season, George brought the Purple Eagles to a 6-8-2 record in 2025 including a season-opening victory over ACC competitor Syracuse.
• The team was selected 10th out of 13 programs in the 2026 Metro Preseason Coaches Poll. The conference was formerly known as the MAAC.
• The Bonnies' Little Three rivals opened the 2026 campaign with a defeat against Buffalo and a victory over Le Moyne as both games concluded at a score of 2-0. Before traveling to the Marra Athletics Complex on Monday, the team will face Syracuse on the road on Thursday evening, giving George an opportunity to collect back-to-back wins over the Orange.
• Junior forward Caitlyn Gratton leads the Purple Eagles with four points after punching in both of the squad's goals against Le Moyne. Those two scores were assisted by freshman midfielder Naiya Johnston.
• To this point, Niagara has only activated sophomore Julia Poissant in net. She has made six total saves for a success rate of 75 percent.

 
SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies hold a 1-3-1 all-time record against the Dolphins, though the two programs have not met since the 1991 season in which SBU secured a winning result, 2-0. Against Niagara, the Brown and White hold an all-time mark of 25-12-1. At home, the Bonnies are 13-6 vs. the Purple Eagles. The Western New York rivals have not faced off since the 2024 season, in which the Purple Eagles protected home turf with a 1-0 victory.
