LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – An impressive total of 13 out of 15 competitors for the St. Bonaventure women's cross country team registered new personal best times in the Lock Haven Invitational.
Chloe Fisher showed the way for the Bonnies with her PR time of 23:12.7 in the Crimson 6K race. She bested her previous PR by nearly 16 seconds and vaults to 15th individually in the program record book.
On Saturday, Fisher placed 38th out of 183 runners in the Crimson race and set the tone for a host of new Bona's PRs behind her.
As a team, the Bonnies finished eighth out of 22 teams in the top race of the day.
Sophomore Sydney March posted a huge PR as she clocked in at 23:19.6, almost exactly a full minute faster than she ran the same course as a freshman. March will slot 16th in the program top-20.
Junior Naina Slaughter also easily eclipsed her previous collegiate best by over a minute as she turned in a run of 23:28.7 and a third new program top-20 mark.
Freshmen Sydney Dunn (23:34.0) and Estella Hyde (23:40.3) completed Bona's scoring five while classmates Jahrie Houle (23:50.0) and Siena Bammel (24:04.4) rounded out the team's top-seven. All eight of Bona's competitors in the opening race set new personal best times.
In the White race, the Bonnies placed fourth out of 20 teams in attendance.
Senior Gabriella Randazzo ran 10th out of 176 athletes, bettering her previous collegiate best by over 20 seconds as she timed in at 23:50.8.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"To have that many athletes run the fastest times of their careers in the same meet is a tremendous accomplishment and shows the progress we're making as a team. We had several outstanding performances, led by Chloe Fisher. Our Harrier Awards for the meet went to Gabby Randazzo and Chloe for their efforts. Next up for the Bonnies, our top four runners who did not compete today will be back in action at the Paul Short Run."
NEXT UP
St. Bonaventure will head to the Paul Short Run, one of the region's top events each fall. Competition is slated for Friday, Oct. 2 in Bethlehem, Pa.
