The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team lost to
Penn State 174-60 on Tuesday afternoon in the Reilly Center Pool.
Seniors Allison Smith and Kara Small had impressive finishes to add
to the Bonnies' score.
Small competed in the 1000-yard freestyle touching for a
second-place finish at 10:46.99. She then put in another second
place finish in the 500-yard freestyle just edging out Smith with a
time of 5:15.53. Small also competed in the 200-yard breaststroke,
picking up a second-place finish, clocking in at 2:32.05.
Fellow classmate Smith touched first in the 200-yard freestyle
in 1:57.46 and third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of
5:16.06.
Sophomore Kayla Cobb made a splash in the 200-yard breaststroke,
finishing in third with a time of 2:35.40.
Cobb along with junior Morgan Ribar and seniors Taylor Merena
and Lauren Ely took third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time
of 1:54.13.
St. Bonaventure's 200-yard relays placed in first and second.
Smith and Ely along with Lanae Petty and sophomore Jamie Noonan
finished in the first spot, touching in at 1:44.12. Juniors Julie
Brezinsky and Natalya Ghostlaw with Merena and Cobb finished second
at 1:46.00.
In diving action, freshman Jaelyn Thurner and Alycia Gossett
finished fifth and sixth, respectively Thurner notched 210.75 and
208.75 in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving, while Gossett finished
with 161.75 and 177.32, in her respective events.
The Bonnies jump back in the pool on Saturday against
Pittsburgh. The diving portion starts at 10:00 a.m. and the
swimming meet starts at 1 p.m. at the Reilly Center Pool.
