CLEVELAND – The women's swimming
and diving team competed at Cleveland State today in a meet against
Cleveland State, Valparaiso University and Niagara University.
The Bonnies defeated Valparaiso 185-46 and Niagara 135-108.
However, they fell to Cleveland State 146-92.
Senior Allison Smith finished second in both
the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in with
scores of 1:56.43 and 5:13.56, respectively.
Junior Natalya Ghostlaw competed in the
200-yard butterfly, picking up a second-place finish with a time of
2:12.97. She also took third in the 500-yard freestyle touching in
at 5:22.36.
In the 200-yard backstroke, junior Kathryne
Valentine finished in first-place, clocking in at 2:08.06.
Senior Kara Small took third-place in the 200-yard
breaststroke with a time of 2:32.04, and sophomore Jamie
Noonan competed in the 200-yard IM where she finished in
third-place, notching a time of 2:14.49.
The relay teams had a good day as well. The 400-yard medley
relay team, consisting of Valentine, Smith, Taylor
Merena and Katie Heller, picked up a
first-place finish with a time of 4:00.85. While Julie
Brezinsky, Lanae Petty, Erica Pascarella, and
Lauren Ely, the 400-yard freestyle team, notched a
third-place finish, coming in with a time of 3:45.04.
In diving, sophomore Jaelyn Thurner took
second-place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 204.50. Thurner
took fourth-place in the 3-meter dive, scoring 183.25. Classmate
Alycia Gossett finished in seventh in the 1-meter
and sixth in the 3-meter with scores of 135.65 and 165.10,
respectively.
The Bonnies will be back in the pool on Friday, December 4 when
they travel to Akron, Ohio for the Zippy Invitational.
