ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St.
Bonaventure women's swimming & diving team took first
place in all 12 events to beat Big 4 rival Canisius 172-44.5 on
Friday afternoon at the Reilly Center.
Senior Allison Smith led the way with two
individual first place finishes and one in the 200-yard freestyle
relay, clocking in at 1:43.90. In the 1000-yard free, Smith touched
in at 10:41.51 beating the competition by more than a minute. She
clocked in at 54.66 in the 100-yard freestyle to finish first.
Junior Jamie Noonan also picked up a first
place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and joined Smith,
Natalya Ghostlaw and Julie
Brezinsky in the 200 free relay. Noonan touched in at
2:02.32 just ahead of Brezinsky who picked up a second place finish
at 2:03.05.
Also adding to the list of first place finishes for the Bonnies
was sophomore Kayla Cobb who finished first in the
100-yard breaststroke at 1:09.47. Cobb, junior Kathryne
Valentine, and seniors Taylor Merena and
Lauren Ely picked up the first win of the
afternoon in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing at 1:53.50.
Ely finished first in the 50-yard free clocking in at 25.99
while Valentine won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.84.
Sophomore Jaelyn Thurner led the Brown and
White in diving taking first in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with
224.03 and 227.18 points, respectively. Classmate Alycia
Gossett had 194.18 points in the 1-meter for a third place
finish and 188.18 points for a second place in the 3-meter.
The Bonnies take a month off from competition and return to
action next year against Buffalo on January 16 at the Reilly Center
Pool.
