WASHINTON, D.C. – The women's
swimming and diving team faced off against Georgetown Saturday
afternoon at Albert G. McCarthy, Jr. Swimming Pool, falling
152.50-123.50.
Senior Kara Small came in first place in the
200-yard IM, touching in at 2:15.30. She also had second-place
finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle with
times of 10:42.30 and 5:14.33, respectively.
Junior Kathryne Valentine also made a splash for
the Bonnies. She competed in the 200-yard backstroke where she
finished in first-place with a time of 2:08.16. In the 100-yard
backstroke, Valentine notched a second-place finish, with a time of
59.92.
In the 100-yard butterfly, the Bonnies took the top three sports.
Senior Taylor Merena touched in first-place with a
time of 59.96. Right behind her was Valentine at 1:00.54 and
sophomore Lanae Petty at 1:01.09, good for a
third-place finish.
Sophomore Kayla Cobb finished in first-place in
the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:32.90
In relay action, the 400-yard freestyle team of Petty, Small,
Julie Brezinsky, and Natalya
Ghostlaw finished in first-place with a time of
3:45.40.
In the diving portion of the meet, sophomore Alycia
Gossett finished in first place in the 3-meter dive with a
score of 167.75. She also took third-place in the 1-meter dive with
a score of 198.65.
The Bonnies will be back in the pool on Friday at home to take on
the University of Buffalo. The meet begins at 5:00 p.m. and it is
Senior Night.
