BUFFALO, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's
swimming and diving team dipped to eighth place in the second day
of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships held in the
Flickinger Center Thursday night.
The Brown and White have 105 points holding a 14-point lead over
George Washington (90.5) with Fordham topping the women's board
with 265 points. Richmond is in second with 185 points followed by
Massachusetts in third with 165. La Salle holds fourth (153.5)
followed by in fifth (141), Rhode Island holds sixth (112) followed
by Xavier University in seventh (111).
In the 500-yard freestyle consolation final, senior Kara
Small, competing in her last A-10 championship, placed
12th in the championship rounds with a 5:03.57 finish. Sophomore
Jamie Noonan swam a 5:05.45 for a 16th-place
finish.
In the 50-yard freestyle, sophomore Lanae Petty
touched the wall in 24.49 for 14th place in the consolation
finals.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Noonan, Petty, and
seniors Allison Smith, and Lauren
Ely placed eighth with a time of 136.83.
In the women's 1-meter dive, sophomore Jaelyn
Thurner finished in eighth-place with a score of
180.85.
The Brown and White begins its third day of competition at the
A-10 Championships beginning 10:30 a.m. tomorrow with the prelims
followed by the finals at 6:30 p.m.
