PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Behind the
scoring duo of junior Christine Hanley and senior
Molly Hastrich, the St. Bonaventure women's
lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season at Robert
Morris dropping the Colonials 15-8 on a windy Friday afternoon at
Joe Walton Stadium.
Hanley lead all scorers with four goals while Hastrich scored
three and added two assists. The two have tallied a hat trick
in three out of the Bonnies' four games. Sophomore
Danielle Drabin tossed in two goals and had two
assists as well.
The Bonnies out-shot the Colonials 40-26 allowing senior
Tori Waheibi to pick up the win, playing the
complete games and making 12 saves.
St. Bonaventure opened on a 5-1 run courtesy of a free position
goal by Drabin. Hastrich tallied two of her goals during the
stretch while Hanley and sophomore Daisy Timlin
each added one of their own.
Robert Morris countered on a 5-3 stretch of its own with the
help of four different Colonials. Sophomore Samantha
Cavallaro and freshman Marybeth Madia
notched goals to help the Bonnies take a 8-6 lead into the break.
Opening on a 4-0 run, the Brown and White led 12-6 with less
than 15 minutes to play. Hanley tallied two goals while
Timlin and Cavallaro added their second goals of the day.
The Colonials only got on the board two more times by the close
of the game while the Bonnies scored three more to further their
lead. Sophomore Kristi Tamasitis scored her
first goal of the season at the 8:40 mark. With 14 seconds left,
Drabin hit her second goal of the contest and grab the win.
The Bonnies travel to Big 4 rival Canisius on Tuesday.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Buffalo.
