ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Kaitlin Krisko headed in the game's only goal in the 95th minute to lead St. Bonaventure (2-2) to an overtime victory over Binghamton (2-2) Sunday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.
After an evenly played first half, senior Hannah Lapp sent in a free kick from the far corner after a Bearcats' foul near the endline in the extra frame. Krisko, stationed just inside the near post, headed the ball back inside and off keeper Carrie Martin's hands to break the draw and give SBU its second shutout of the year.
Martin recorded 11 saves in the contest, including several diving, one-handed stabs that kept the Bonnies off the board until the 95th minute.
Defensively, the Bonnies held Binghamton to just five shots over the final 50 minutes of play to help sophomore keeper Megan Junker preserve her second clean sheet of the year. In 364:17 minutes of action between the pipes this season, Junker has allowed just two goals and boasts a 0.49 goals against average with an .895 save percentage.
"I really liked how committed our players were to improving this weekend," said Bonnies coach Manoj Khettry following the games against Siena and Binghamton. "We identified a few areas that we needed to improve on as a group and individually, and I'm really proud that our players listened and tried to improve."
The Bonnies will have a six-day break before returning to action at Big 4 rival Buffalo at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
NOTES: Binghamton and St. Bonaventure had not met since Aug. 29, 2004 … Meghan Taylor, the sister of current St. Bonaventure player Janelle Taylor, started on defense in that game for BU … wind gusted from North to South throughout the game, affecting set pieces and goal kicks … SBU wore its white tops and black shorts with BU sporting the opposite combination … no cards were issued.
