PITTSBURGH Pa. – The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team participated in day-two of the Pitt Invite on Saturday Nov. 17.
During the second day of prelims and finals the team participated in eight more events to gain points for the Bonnies.
Michael Pilyugin had the highest place finish for the team of the night, coming in for a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.38.
Vatslav Lets came in just behind his teammate in the 100 back with a time of 50.77, good for a fourth-place finish. Lets also took third-place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:01.48.
Michael Murphy finished with a bronze medal in the 1-meter diving with a score of 290.65 in the finals.
Gregg Byrne took fifth-place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:11.22.
Jimmy Martin touched in at 50.85 in the 100-yard butterfly, taking ninth place.
Matthew Schutt and Michael Burud finished back-to-back in the 100 breast. Schutt came in with a time of 59.30 which was good for a seventh-place finish and Burud touched in just behind at 1:02.06 for an eighth-place finish.
A team of Pilyugin, Schutt, Nathan Destree and Martin came in at 1:33.77 in the 200-yard medley relay, good for fifth place. David Erickson, Burud, Matthew Rochna and David Paccapaniccia touched in for an eighth place finish in the 200 medley with a time of 1:39.46.
In the last event of the day, Lets, Pilyugin, Elias Homerin and Martin took a sixth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:52.25.
The Brown and White return to the pool Sunday Nov 18 for the final day of the Pitt Invite. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. and finals will follow at 6 p.m.
