PITTSBURGH Pa. – The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team participated in the final day of the Pitt Invite on Sunday Nov 18.
During the third day of prelims and finals the team participated in six more events to gain points for the Bonnies.
Vatslav Lets touched in at 1:49.87 in the 200-yard backstroke, good for a bronze place finish. Lets also had a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of
Gregg Byrne and Matthew Rochna touched in for 10th and 11th place finishes in the 200 back. Byrne swam in at 1:57.19 and Rochna came in at 1:58.70.
Later in the meet, Byrne came in seventh-place in the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.28. Elias Homerin touched in just ahead at 1:56.48, good for a sixth-place finish.
Homerin also came in with a time of 16:27.20 in the 1650-yard freestyle, good for a seventh-place finish. Teammate, Mike Hartwell came in ninth-place with a time of 16:57.93. Thomas Caulfield touched in for an eleventh-place finish and John Mackiewicz came for a twelfth-place finish with times of 17:04.89 and 17:37.29, respectively.
Jimmy Martin had an 11th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.17.
Matthew Schutt and Mike Burud (pictured) showcased their talents for breaststroke events for another night. Burud finished in seventh-place in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:11.06 and Schutt came in just behind in ninth-place with a time of 2:10.81.
In the last event of the day, a team of Michael Pilyugin, Martin, Lets and Nathan Destree came in at 3:07.05 in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a sixth-place finish.
The Brown and White return to the pool on Nov. 30 through Dec. 4 for the Akron Invite in Akron, Ohio.
