CLEVELAND STATE BOX SCORE (PDF)

CLEVELAND, OHIO
– The St. Bonaventure softball team (1-7) picked up their first win of this young season by putting up seven runs to knock off host school Cleveland State in its final game at the Cleveland Dome Tournament.

In their first game on Sunday, the Bonnies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their rematch with Little Three rival Canisius. The Golden Griffins didn't wait long to rectify that situation however. Canisius scored four runs on four hits in the third to claim the lead for good.

Canisius would tack on six more while keeping the Bonnies at bay to claim the 10-2 victory. Julia Pratt (0-3) would take the loss for the Bonnies. Lindsay Stowell collected three of the Bonnies' five hits in the game.

In the second game of the day, the Brown and White wasted no time, scoring three runs on no hits and two errors in the top of the first. Cleveland State answered with a run of their own in the bottom half but the Bonnies scored another run in the top of the second.

Both teams would go scoreless until the fourth when St. Bonaventure tacked on three more runs on three hits. The 7-1 tally would hold until the bottom of the sixth when Cleveland State lifted a home run. But that would complete the scoring for the game as the Bonnies would claim the 7-2 victory.

Freshman Alexis Sloat (1-0) tossed a gem for the Bonnies to pick up her first career win. Katherine Caboot went 2 for 3 while Jessenia Andujar went 2 for 3 with the lone RBI for the Bonnies.

The Brown and White are back in action next weekend when they travel to Florida Gulf Coast University for the FGCU/La Quinta Inn & Suites Spring Break Invitational. While there, the Bonnies will face off with Villanova, Michigan State twice, Minnesota and Florida Gulf Coast.
