The Short Story:
The St. Bonaventure baseball team appeared to be heading into a pitchers duo after the first three innings, where each team only recorded one hit, but a four-run fourth inning opened the doors for Fordham as they defeated the Bonnies, 8-1. In his first weekend start, Kirk Haynes Jr. tossed a eighth and a third innings as the Brown and White only managed to post four hits and one run off him. After trailing by six runs in seven innings, St. Bonaventure eventually notched a run on the board in the eighth. The Rams added two more runs in top of the ninth to claim their 8-1 victory.

How It Happened:

  • The Fordham Rams' offense came alive in the top of the fourth inning, when they registered four runs off five hits. Among those four runs were two singles that resulted in two runs for the Rams.
  • After two scoreless innings, The Rams tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh. Galiano singled to left field that scored Donadio from third and advanced Runco to second. Galiano came around to score for Fordham after a Rob McCunney single to left center.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, St. Bonaventure mustered a run as the Bonnies had runners on the corners with only one out. Dylan Dunn drove in the first run when he hit a sac-fly to right field that allowed Thad Johnson to tag up and score from third.
  • The Rams went on to close out the game in the ninth inning when they added two more runs to the board to give themselves a seven-run lead. Judisky doubled down the left-field line to score the runners from first and second.
  • Kirk Haynes Jr. attempted to throw a complete-game four hitters but was taken out after getting a lone out in the bottom of the ninth as the Bonnies earned a walk and a single. Haynes Jr recorded nine strikeouts on the day.
  • Cody Johnson came in to seal the 8-1 victory as he faced three batters and only allowed a walk to load the bases but struck-out the next batters to end the game.

Inside The Box Score:

  • The starting pitcher, Asa Johnson, completed seven and two-third innings and allowed only two earned runs on 12 hits. He also struck-out four Rams on the day.
  • Joel Rosencrance, Dylan Dunn and Justin Brozick all extended their hit-streaks in today's game. Rosencrance has tallied a hit in the previous seven-straight games, while Dunn and Brozick have recorded six and five hits in a row, respectively.
  • Jared Baldinelli worked the pitcher inside the batter's box as he earned himself three walks. He also recorded a one of four hits for the Bonnies on Friday.

On Deck:
The Bonnies look to get back on track on Saturday, April 19, when they take on the Fordham Rams in game two of the three-game series. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
