The Short Story:
Fordham completed a sweep of its three-game series against St. Bonaventure with a 14-8 win on Easter Sunday afternoon.
The Rams led 9-0 before the Bonnies mounted a rally, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was a 10-8 game going into the ninth but Fordham padded its lead with four runs against Bonnies reliever Thad Johnson. Matt Kozuch's three-run double was the big hit in the frame.
Connor Grey (1-6) took the loss while Tim Swatek (4-2) was the winner. Swatek also had four of Fordham's 20 hits.

How It Happened:

  • The Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings, posting six runs in the fourth. Third baseman Rob McCunney had a two-run single to highlight six Fordham hits in the inning against Bonnies starter Conner Grey.
  • Fordham tacked on two more runs in the fifth against St. Bonaventure reliever Dan Trimble. Joe Runco drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Fordham starting pitcher Tim Swatek, who had four hits on the day, had an RBI single later in the frame.
  • With a 9-0 lead, Swatek was lifted for reliever Greg Weissert in the sixth inning. St. Bonaventure promptly touched Weissert for five runs on four hits, and he was pulled without recording a single out.
  • The Bonnies would go on to score a total of six runs in the sixth, making it a 9-6 game. Center fielder Tyler Bell had the key hit, a bases-clearing, three-run triple. First baseman Justin Brozick had an RBI double and third baseman Brad Gresock had an RBI single, one of his two hits that inning.
  • The Rams made it 10-6 in the top of the eighth when Matt Kozuch plated Charles Galiano with a single.
  • St. Bonaventure pulled within two runs at 10-8 in the bottom of the eighth. Freshman Ryan Cox, who came on to play shortstop, had an infield single that plated a run, then Joel Rosencrance's groundout scored Brian Weightman from third base. The Bonnies had the bases loaded with two outs but Fordham reliever Joe Serrapica coaxed a ground out by Tyler Bell to end the threat.
  • Fordham got all the insurance it needed with four runs in the top of the ninth. Three of those runs came on a double down the left field line by Kozuch that scored three runs.

Inside The Box Score:

  • The teams combined for 35 hits in the game – 20 for Fordham and 15 by the Bonnies. Only five of those hits went for extra bases and there were not any home runs hit.
  • Joel Rosencrance saw his eight-game hitting streak come to an end; he was 0-3 on Sunday.
  • Jared Baldinelli, Brad Gresock, Thad Johnson, Tyler Bell, Dylan Dunn and Brian Weightman all had two hits for St. Bonaventure.
