ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team earned seven first-place finishes but came up short against Cornell Friday evening at the Reilly Center Pool, 168.5-124.5.
Michael White earned two wins, claiming the 200-butterfly (1:54.30) and 200-breaststroke (2:07.53).
Matt Goettler earned a win in the 100-breaststroke (57.97) while Matt Taccard claimed the win in the 200-backstroke (1:57.06).
The Brown and White also earned first-place finishes in both relay events. White, Goettler, David Shakhnazarov and Taccard finished first in the day's first event, the 200-medley relay, at 1:34.35. Jordan Powers, Shakhnazarov, Taccard and White closed out the day with a win in the 200-freestyle relay (1:26.37).
On the diving board, Ryan McLaughlin captured a win in the 1-meter with a score of 252.68.
St. Bonaventure will conclude its regular season next weekend. On Friday, Jan. 27, the Bonnies will take on Buffalo at 4:00 p.m. before a quick turnaround at home on Saturday, Jan. 28 against Niagara at 1:00 p.m. for senior day.
