@BonniesSoftball Resumes Atlantic 10 Action With Trip To Dayton

STORYLINE
The St. Bonaventure softball team will play its second Atlantic 10 series this weekend on the road at Dayton. The Flyers are fourth in the Atlantic 10 with a 4-4 conference record while the Bonnies are 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Bonnies split their doubleheader with Robert Morris on Wednesday. The Brown and White took the first game, 5-3, but then dropped the second game also by a score of, 5-3.
  • Kelly Farrell blasted a two-run home run to help lift St. Bonaventure to victory in the first game. Hailey Blencowe and Alissa Karjel each had two hits.
  • Sam Wood came on in relief to get the final five outs to get the win.
  • In the second game, the Bonnies were led by Morgan Phillips who went 3-for-4. Alexandra Piergustavo chipped in two hits for the Brown and White.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH

  1. Hailey Blencowe has returned to form since coming back to the Bona lineup. Blencowe has six multi-hit games and leads the team with a .339 batting average. The junior went 2-for-2 and chipped in an RBI to help propel the Bonnies to victory over Robert Morris in game one.
  2. Sophomore Alexandra Piergustavo has been a force in the middle of the lineup for the Bonnies. Piergustavo leads the team with 25 hits, 17 RBIs and five doubles. The sophomore went 3-for-7 in two games against Robert Morris with an RBI and a double. Her .298 batting average is second on the team.
  3. Desiree Gonzalez has been a catalyst for the Bona lineup. The senior has a .370 on-base percentage, leads the team with 15 runs scored and has the second-highest team totals with 22 hits 13 RBIs. Gonzalez has also swiped 10 bases for St. Bonaventure, as her two stolen bases in game one against Robert Morris were part of a season-high six stolen bases by the Bonnies.
  4. Morgan Phillips provided a spark for the Bona lineup on Wednesday. Phillips recorded three hits in game two vs. Robert Morris. The junior has been very consistent this year for Coach Threehouse as she has a .256 batting average and is tied for third with 20 hits for the Bonnies.
  5. Kelly Farrell hit her second home run of the season to help the Bonnies earn a victory in game one vs. Robert Morris. Farrell went 2-for-6 vs Robert Morris and has a .368 on-base percentage.

ABOUT DAYTON (16-17)

  • The Dayton Flyers come into action on Saturday with a 16-17 record and have gone 4-4 in Atlantic 10 play.
  • The Flyers are led by Gabriell Snyder, who leads the team with 43 hits and 22 runs scored.
  • Kyle Davidson and Kailee Budican are both hitting over .300 with Davidson recording 35 hits and Budican notching 34 of her own.
  • Katie Ryan paces the Flyers with three home runs and Hann DeSalvo has swiped 13 bases on the season for Dayton.
  • Manda Cash is the ace in the circle for the Flyers. Cash has a 9-8 record with 19 starts. Her 2.55 ERA leads the team and Cash has tossed 96 innings, gave up 86 hits and struck out 120 batters.
  • Snyder is the No. 2 pitcher for Dayton. Snyder has a 3-4 record after tossing 44 innings, issuing 21 walks, given up 42 hits and has also struck out 42 batters.
  • The Flyers dropped their three-game series to George Mason and completed a three-game sweep to George Washington.
