Bonnies Swim and Dive Travels to Cornell for Saturday Meet

Saturday, Nov. 6 – 5:00 p.m.
Ithaca, N.Y. – Teagle Pool
 
The St. Bonaventure University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell University on Saturday, Nov. 6. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
 
Bonnies Backstory
  • Previous meet: The St. Bonaventure men's team competed at the A-10 Classic against Oakland and George Mason, while the women competed against Oakland, George Mason, and Duquesne
  • Freshman diver Zyad Morsy broke the school record in the 1-meter dive with a score of 335.60, shattering the previous record of 332.25 which had been held since 2012 by Mike Murphy.
  • Morsy was also victorious in the 3-meter dive (315.25).
  • Sophomore Maxwell Murray picked up his first collegiate event victory with a time of 16:30.82 in the 1650-yard freestyle.
  • The Bonnies 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kyle Gluck, Alec Thomas, Maciej Danilewski and senior William Lowe placed second, finishing with a time 1:24.62.
  • For the women's team, senior Rachel Kimmel placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.74. She also won the 200-yard breaststroke by touching the wall in a time of 2:18.41.
  • In the 200-butterfly, freshman Silvana Cabrera captured a victory with a time of 2:07.22. Cabrera also finished fourth in the 100-fly (58.32).
 
A-10 Awards Winners
  • With multiple victories in yet another meet, Kimmel earned her second Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week this season. She also captured the award following the first dual meet of the year, a win over St. Francis (PA).
  • Morsy captured Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week with his record-setting performance at the Atlantic 10 Classic, his first career A-10 honors.
 
About The Big Red
  • Cornell is set to open their 2021-22 swimming and diving season on Saturday.
  • Both the men and women finished the 2019-20 season with a 3-6 record. The teams did not have any official meets last year as the Ivy League sports teams did not compete due to the pandemic.
