Bonnies Swim and Dive Set To Honor Seniors on Saturday

The St. Bonaventure University men's and women's swimming and diving team hosts Binghamton Saturday, Jan. 22. Diving is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the swim meet starting at 1:00 p.m. Prior to 1:00 p.m., the Bonnies will honor their 11 seniors.

Bonnies Backstory  
Senior Day
  • Matthew Bielobradek: Matthew is a four-year member of the swimming program. In his freshman season he won the 3-meter and 1-meter dives at the UB Diving Invite. Also, he earned first-place in the 3-meter dive and second-place in the 1-meter dive at the Justin Jennings Memorial Invite. In his sophomore season he swept the 1- and 3-meter dives with scores of 262.65 and 279, respectively, in a victory over Canisius. Also, he earned first place in the 3-meter dive in a win over Niagara. He earned Atlantic 10 Honor Roll honors in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. As a junior, he placed sixth in the 3-meter dive and 10th in the 1-meter event at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Matthew is working toward his degree in finance.
  • George Kalletta: George is a four-year member of the swimming program. In his freshman season, he won the 1000-freestyle and finished in second in the 500-freestyle against Niagara. At the A-10 Championships in his sophomore season, he swam a program record 1:47.31 in the 200-butterfly, finishing third to earn a bronze medal and won a gold medal in the 400-IM with a time of 3:49.04, shattering the program record of 3:53.54. Also, he broke the old program record in the 200-IM, finishing second to teammate Tjaard Krusch with a time of 1:46.74 to earn a silver medal at the A-10 Championships. During his junior season he finished fourth in the 400-IM, seventh in the 200-IM, and 10th in the 200-butterfly at the Atlantic 10 Championships. At Canisius this season he earned a victory in the 200-IM. George is pursuing a degree in Criminology.
  • Will Lowe: Will is four-year member of the swimming program. During his freshman season, he was a member of sixth-place 200-freestyle relay team at the Atlantic 10 Classic. At the Atlantic 10 Championships in his sophomore season he led the 400-freestyle relay team to fifth place, was a member of the fifth-place 200-freestyle relay, and won the 50-freestyle consolation final with a time of 1:21.43. As a junior at the A-10 Championships, he captured bronze medals in the 50-freestyle and the 400-freestyle relay, while also earning fourth-place finishes in the 200-freestyle relay and the 200-medley relay. At the West Virginia Invitational this season he was victorious in the 50-freestyle swim off. Will is working toward a degree in finance.
  • Alec Thomas: Alec is a four-year member of the swimming program. At the A-10 Championships in his junior season, he earned a silver medal in the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:15.42 and won a pair of bronze medals in the 400-freestyle relay and 800-freestyle relay. In his freshman season, he was a member of sixth-place 200-freestyle relay team at the Atlantic 10 Classic. During his sophomore season, he earned victory in the 50-freestyle at Binghamton and was victorious in the 100-freestyle at Niagara. Also, he helped the 400-freestyle relay to a first-place finish at Colgate. He has been selected as Atlantic 10 Honor Roll honoree in all of these seasons. This season he picked up multiple victories at Colgate and at Cornell. Alec is pursuing a degree in strategic communication and digital media.
  • Jake Ruffolo: Jake is a four-year member of the swimming program. During his junior season, he won the 200-freestyle relay, and placed second in the 200-freestyle and 100-freestyle against Niagara. At the A-10 Championships he earned a bronze medal in the 400-freestyle relay. In the past two seasons he was selected to the Atlantic 10 Honor Roll. During his freshman season, he was a member of the winning 400-freestyle relay team against Canisius and a member of the sixth-place 400-freestyle relay at the Atlantic 10 Championships. In his sophomore season he won the 200-freestyle with at time of 1:47.22 at Niagara and was a member of the first-place 400-freestyle relay against Canisius. At Colgate, he was a pivotal part of the 400-medley relay team that earned a first-place finish. Jake is working toward a degree in physical education.
  • Marissa Carrig: Marissa is a four-year member of the swimming program. As a freshman she was a member of the winning 200-medley relay team against Niagara and Canisius. During her sophomore season she was a member of the 200-freestyle relay team that placed first at Niagara and also a part of the 400-medley relay team that was victorious against Canisius. In her junior season she placed third as a member of 200-freestyle relay team at Binghamton. She has been selected to the Atlantic 10 Honor Roll all three of her seasons so far. Marissa is pursuing a degree in health science. 
  • Emerson Graham: Emerson is a four-year member of the swimming program. In her freshman season, she finished in third-place in the 1000-freestyle against Niagara and placed third in the 200-breaststroke at Colgate. During her sophomore season, she earned victory in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.47 at Niagara. As a junior, she registered a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200-breaststroke and 200-medley relay at Binghamton. In all three of these seasons she was selected to the Atlantic 10 Honor Roll. Emerson is working toward a degree in psychology.
  • Ivana Janssen: Ivana is a four-year member of the swimming program. During her freshman and sophomore seasons, she nabbed several victories in the 50-freestyle and was a member of several relay teams that were victorious. As a junior she placed ninth in the 200-freestyle relay at the Atlantic 10 Championships. She is a three-time selection to the Atlantic 10 Honor Roll. Ivana is pursuing a degree in psychology. 
  • Rachel Kimmel: Rachel is a four-year member of the swimming program and owns seven medals from Atlantic 10 Championships. At the conference meet during her freshman season, she won a bronze medal and broke the St. Bonaventure program record in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:01.62 and the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:15.98. In 2018-19, she was also selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-American. During her sophomore season at the A-10 Championships, she broke the St. Bonaventure program record and won silver medals in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:01.24 and 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:12.26. Also, she was a pivotal part of the SBU record-setting 200-medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:41.36. In that same year she was a member of the bronze medal-winning 400-medley relay team. As a junior she won a gold medal and set a new program record in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:00.75 and also earned a silver medal in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:14.72 at the A-10 Championships. In her sophomore and junior season, she was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. This season at Colgate she would go on to break a pool record that was set in 1996 with a time of 1:03.70 in the 100-yard breaststroke. She has earned Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming Performer of the Week multiple times this season as well. Rachel is working toward a degree in journalism and mass communication.
  • Zanre Oberholzer: Zanre is a four-year member of the swimming program. During her freshman and sophomore seasons she has earned several victories in the 100 and 200-backstroke. At the Atlantic 10 Championships in her sophomore season she was a member of the 200-medley relay team that broke a St. Bonaventure program record with a time of 1:41.36, won a bronze medal with the 400-medley relay team, and finished tied for sixth in the 100-backstroke. As a junior, she earned a fourth-place finish in the 200-medley relay, placed sixth in the 400-medley relay and 13th in the 100-backstroke at Atlantic 10 Championships. Zanre is pursuing a degree in health science. This season she picked up victories in the 200-backstroke at Cornell and the 100 and 200-backstroke at Canisius.
  • Claire Schaef. Claire is a four-year of the swimming program. In her freshman season, she finished first in the 1000-freestyle, the 200-butterfly, and the 500-freestyle against Colgate. Also, she was victorious in the 1000-freestyle and the 500-freestyle against Canisius. During her sophomore season at the Atlantic 10 Championships, she broke the St. Bonaventure program record of 10:11.70 in the 1000-freestyle during the 1650-freestyle where she set a new program record, swimming a time of 16:56.19. As a junior she won the 200-butterfly and the 1000-freestyle at Binghamton, and was a member of the 800-freestyle relay that placed ninth at the A-10 Championships. This season she was a member of the 200-freestyle relay that was victorious at Cornell and won the 1000-freestyle at Canisius. Claire is working toward a degree in biochemistry.
