Bonnies Score Nine Event Victories To Defeat Canisius, 155-88

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Four different Bonnies scored event victories for the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team to propel the team to a 155-88 victory over Little Three Rival Canisius Saturday afternoon in the Reilly Center Pool.
 
On Saturday afternoon, Bona's scored a total of nine event victories.
 
Prior to and during the meet, both the men's and women's teams sold lime green gear to promote Lyme Disease awareness. All proceeds from the gear is being donated to the Lyme Disease Foundation.
 
Ben Giera and Lucas Dekaney notched top two finishes on the diving board for St. Bonaventure. Giera notched a victory in the 1-meter dive (286.88), while Dekaney was victorious with a score of 317.48 in the 3-meter dive.
 
The 200-medley relay team of Henry Wilkes, Nicholas Nakaya, Alexander Behr, and Kyle Gluck kicked off Saturday afternoon with a time of 1:34.22 to earn a win. The team of Luigi Termine, Michael Pietrucha, Tommy White, and Zachary Titus finished second with a time of 1:35.61.
 
Junior Maxwell Murray secured a victory in the 1000-freestyle (9:45.47) and 100-backstroke (51.01). Murray would go on to place second with a time of 4:47.36 in the 500-freestyle.
 
Behr delivered an individual win in the 200-freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 1:43.55. Senior Tomas Botero finished third with a time of 1:46.42 in the race.
 
In the 100-butterfly, Behr earned another victory with a time of 49.99. Junior Tommy White registered a time of 52.11 to finish right behind his teammate.
 
Junior Kyle Gluck swam a time of 21.44 to secure a victory for the Bonnies. Teammate Patrick Heldreth placed second in this event (21.84).
 
Heldreth notched another second-place finish in the 100-freestyle (47.94).
 
In the 200-IM, Nakaya touched the wall in a time of 1:57.36 for individual victory. Freshman Boray Goren finished with a time of 2:00.03 to earn a third-place finish.
 
To finish Saturday afternoon, Nakaya and Teddy Murphey placed second and third in the 100-breaststroke, respectively.
 
The Bonnies are off until after the holidays when the divers compete at the UB diving invitational on Jan. 13-15, while the swimmers will be off until Jan. 21 when they travel to Binghamton. The meet is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
